Description
Stealth Arms Platypus – Ported 9mm
The Platypus is our favorite 1911/2011-style pistol, and for the money, it’s hard to beat. This gun punches well above its weight class. We’ve personally put over 10,000 rounds through our shop gun, and it just keeps running.
Fit, Finish & Reliability
In our opinion, the fit and finish are better than Staccato. The frame-to-slide fit is tight, and the barrel lockup is solid. The Prickle grip texture hits the sweet spot, and if you’re coming from a Glock, the similar grip angle makes the transition feel natural.
The Platypus runs great with both Mec-Gar and Glock-pattern magazines. We’ve also had no reliability issues using +5 base pads.
Holster Compatibility
The Platypus fits most Staccato holsters. For everyday carry, we recommend the Tenicor 2011 holster or the Safariland 6354RDS designed for the Staccato.
Porting
Tim, the owner of Stealth Arms, is the man. He stands behind the warranty on guns purchased already ported from us, which is pretty much unheard of.
The Platypus is already a smooth-shooting pistol, but porting takes it to another level. This setup features a single-chamber port plus a 3-hole inline port. In our experience, a ported Platypus is one of the flattest and smoothest-shooting pistols you can get.
